Ideas for TigerMUD live team chats?

Dec 3, 2007 at 4:32 AM
Hi all,

Any ideas where we can have live group chat for TigerMUD developers and users? There are times when we'll want more than just 1:1 chat over IM.

We used IRC chat rooms in the past, but are there other ways to do this?

I glanced at the forum list and saw this, and was going to say "IRC"... then I clicked the link and saw the rest of your post. MSN allows for group chats, and I think AIM does too, but I've always loved IRC for this sort of stuff.

Oh... and I happen to have made a stinky little chat app in Java with Swing, and it works on Windows as well as Mac, so if you want to try that out I'll fire up the server and send you the client. It has no names to show who the messages are from, and no user list or "server notifications" and such, but I don't think it'll be too hard to add those in. (I was getting to that anyways, when I abandoned it)

IRC, Yahoo, Skype, AIM, MSN...

Name it and I'm good!

Just wanted to throw this one out there..
How about hosting the current TigerMUD somewhere, that would be a great place to chat.

Oooh! I really like that idea the best. Does anyone have access to a server where we can set it up?

Not I, but if we get stuck there are some free ones around.

Theres a list of 41 providers here : , but I really don't have any idea what services TigerMUD would need exactly - was a bit over my head lol.

Food for thought anyway!

Hi everyone ... it's been a while ;)

IRC is a great choice and freenode would accept you with open arms no doubt. They are a networdk dedicated to OSS and they have a channel about C# too for getting help.

There are online IRC clients such as mibbit: [url:}
And here's the freenode link: [url:}
